Oligohydramnios is the medical term for low amniotic fluid during pregnancy. The amniotic fluid is a large part of the growing baby's life support system. Physicians associate low amniotic fluid with pregnancy complications and problems with fetal development.

Pregnancy is when a woman is carrying a child inside her womb for up to 40+ weeks before giving birth to a baby. This time is known as the gestation period.
