Flu

The flu is an infectious disease also known as the influenza virus. The symptoms of the flu are similar to the common cold. But the flu is often accompanied by fever, headache, sore throat, and muscle soreness. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, depending on the person that it is affecting. It is most dangerous for those with compromised immune systems, newborns, and seniors.

Influenza affects millions of people each year. Approximately 250,000 to 500,000 people die each year due to the virus. Although these deaths are almost exclusive to those in the high-risk category.

The virus spreads through the air through coughs and sneezes. Symptoms can occur two days after exposure. Doctors usually recommend getting a yearly vaccine which can reduce people's risk. Frequent hand washing and good hygiene is another way to increase your immunity.
