SIDS is an acronym for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, a tragic occurrence that is also commonly referred to as cot deaths. It is also recommended not to let newly born babies sleep face down but rather put them to sleep on their backs.

Pregnancy is an exciting time. It's a unique experience that varies woman to woman. Some women have a positive experience with pregnancy, while others don't. We break pregnancies down into three trimesters. 

The first trimester shows how your body is adjusting to its new state. During this trimester, women can experience mood swings, weight gain, cramps, and cravings. Some women even begin to feel morning sickness at this point. 


 


The second trimester tends to be easier than the first. Nausea and fatigue might vanish as well. During this trimester, women can experience body aches, itchy/patchy skin, and swelling.


 


The third trimester is like a runner's last lap. The baby does its last bit of growing in this stage. In this trimester women may experience labored breathing, heartburn, and contractions. Once contractions begin happening frequently, the pregnancy's end is in sight!


Getting Pregnant

Treacher Collins syndrome is a genetic condition that causes abnormalities of the bones and tissues of the face, head, and ears. The syndrome presents with variable levels of severity, being almost unnoticeable or pronounced. People with this disorder may have problems with sight, hearing, breathing, or cleft palates.

Genetic

Colic is a condition that affects infants, causing them to cry and cry, often for not apparent reason. The causes are usually not serious.

Pregnancy is when a woman is carrying a child inside her womb for up to 40+ weeks before giving birth to a baby. This time is known as the gestation period. The embryo develops over the first eight weeks after conception, after which time it is then referred to as the fetus. The length of pregnancy is divided into three trimesters. The first trimester is from fertilization of the egg with sperm (conception), -12 weeks in the womb, the second trimester is week 13 – 28 and the third is weeks 28 – 40+ after which the baby is born.

Pregnancy is the way we reproduce. It comes about by either sexual intercourse or assisted reproductive technology such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Symptoms include missed periods, nausea or vomiting, loss and gain or appetite, frequent urination and tender breasts.

Every pregnancy will be experienced differently. Some women will feel all the symptoms, and other hardly any. Some women may have complications during pregnancy and others not. If you suspect you may be pregnant, you can go to the doctor for an official test, or take a home test, after which you'll need to see a doctor to confirm and then begin the prenatal care for the remainder of your pregnancy.

Hemorrhoids are bulging veins that form in the lowest part of the rectum. They can be external, or internal. They form when veins inside the rectum are under pressure, and become swollen, and may, in some cases protrude from the anus. Prolapsed hemorrhoids are very painful. Internal hemorrhoids are not always felt, as there are fewer nerve endings higher in the rectum, but bleeding may occur.

Factors that contribute to the formation of hemorrhoids include pregnancy, weight gain, straining during bowel movements, lifting heavy objects and continuous periods of both sitting and standing, for long stretches. A build-up of pressure in the lower rectum and a decrease in blood flow will cause the veins to swell, in this area. Hemorrhoids are the main cause of rectal bleeding, and swollen hemorrhoids are commonly referred to as ‘ piles.’
