Currently declining at a rate of -2.05% per annum, Pine Bluff is home to Bayou Bartholomew, the longest bayou in the world. The city was founded in 1819 and built its wealth on the commodity crop of cotton cultivated by hundreds and thousands of enslaved Africans. Annual cultural events include the Boo on the Bayou Halloween Celebration and the Harbor City Gumbo Festival.
