The Iron Horse, Lou Gehrig, retired in 1939 while holding the record for the most number of consecutive ball games played (with a whopping 2130). Since then, his record was broken by Cal Ripken Jr., but his 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig card has made records of its own.
In 2007, the only currently ranked PSA 10 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig card was valued at $33 000, before being sold for a whopping $274 950. It is still, to this day, the only Gem Mint graded model of this particular card.
