15. Seeing a Doctor About Stomach Pain

Most stomach aches go away on their own in a day or two. If the cause is a food that did not agree or a virus, most bodies are well-equipped to fend off the problematic factor, and the pain passes quickly. If, however, the stomach pain comes with more than a day of vomiting or diarrhea, dehydration is a possible complication and a doctor should be notified. Additionally, if the person discovers blood in their urine or stool, feels the pain spreading into their back, it hurts to urinate, or the pain decreases after a bowel movement, a more serious issue could be the cause and medical attention is required.
