The Chow Chow is a medium-sized, powerfully built breed that originally came from China. Their name translates into "puffy lion dog" thanks to their thick fur and mane. They are loyal and protective, making them excellent guard dogs. These same qualities, however, make them aggressive when not properly trained. They are not sociable dogs and aren't usually friendly to strangers or other pets. If you're determined to get a Chow Chow, make sure, you train them well and keep them away from other animals.
