17. Border terrier

There’s no denying that border terriers have plenty of energy. However, they know how to use it well, and they don’t need super long hikes to burn it away. Border terriers thrive on human interaction and play, so you can dissipate some of that energy by throwing their favorite ball in the park.

Another low-maintenance perk is their wiry coat—it requires next to no input and isn’t likely to suffer from matting.
