8. Helps with coughs and sore throats

ACV's antimicrobial properties have long made it a traditional method of treating sore throats and coughs—vinegar mixed with honey was popular with good 'ol Hippocrates. The acid can stop the tickling sensation that leads to coughing, and ACV may thin mucus secretions. You can drink two tablespoons of ACV in a glass of warm water twice a day—add two teaspoons of honey and up to a teaspoon of ground ginger root or 1/4 teaspoon powdered cayenne pepper. Many people have found relief for their sore throats by gargling apple cider vinegar with warm water. Note, however, that vinegar might irritate the throat even more if used undiluted, and if you accidentally inhale neat vinegar, you can burn your lungs, so always exercise caution.
