9. Poor oral hygiene

Another common cause of white tongue is poor oral hygiene. If you don't practice good oral routines daily, you might develop this condition. The fact is, if you don't brush your teeth and tongue at least twice a day, you're increasing your risk of developing white tongue. One thing you can do to ease the condition is to mix kosher or sea salt with water. Then you can use this as a homemade mouthwash. After using this mixture, you can also brush your teeth and tongue with the salt to make the treatment more effective.
