Heart attacks occur due to blockage in one of the arteries that supply blood to the heart. Pain will result when any muscle is starved of oxygen, and the heart is no different. Chest pain from heart attacks feel sharp and stabbing or like a pressure in the chest, similar to angina. Other symptoms include numbness in the arm and a cold sweat. Heart attacks are always medical emergencies, and the sooner you seek help, the better. Once you are successfully stabilized, your physician will determine the right course of action.
