The different types of POTS have some common and consistent symptoms, many of which involve heart rate. A rapid heartbeat that exceeds 30 beats per minute is a common sign, as is a heart rate that exceeds 120 beats per minute within ten minutes of standing. Other significant symptoms of POTS are similar to those of other orthostatic intolerance conditions. Orthostatic intolerance describes the symptoms that sometimes appear after standing up, including dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, shortness of breath, and nausea. Bloating, constipation, heart palpitations, low blood pressure, and weakness may also occur.
